Road linking Phuentsholing to Thimphu (Bhutan)

“CHILL AT THE END? OR MAKE THE JOURNEY WORTHWHILE…”

It seems everywhere I see, every other day there’s some kind of social media post along the lines of:
"Wish I could be a kid again"
"I wish I could reverse time so I could be a kid"
"I would give anything for being a child again"
"Being a kid were the best years of my life"
BUT...

Why would you though? If you really think about it, it boils down to:
A. if you're leading a fulfilling life, or
B. if you're taking a step in that direction
How sad is it that a person who's led SIXTY years of their lives look back on it and say "well those last 50 years were just meh, but those first 5 years... Yeah, that's when I really lived"
The sole reason is that people have stopped living - laughing, loving, showing that random act of kindness, travelling and hoping.

Sure, your career and money is important, but is it really ALL you have to look to? What about the present? you're not going to take the money through that grave, and science probably isn't going to replace mortality anytime soon. The days are passing, man.. The clock just - ticking away. When you're in your final moments, do you really want to think that you had SIXTY FUCKING YEARS, and the most fun you had in were in FIVE of them?

That's crazy. And you're too if you think that's just how things work, and every screw has its place in the machinery.
What if I tell you there IS no machinery? What if human society is a rather flamboyant bio-organism that thrives on innovation, joy and creativity... and YOU are the one holding humanity back by NOT having fun.

If you're working in your chair all day, put down that pen and paper and run up to the terrace and feel that wind on your scalp. If you're a student burdened by studies and societal pressure, let me tell you that you're far from alone, and you'd do better by getting up and sitting outside a little. You know, like a wet rag that's hung out to dry - of sadness, depression and feelings of impending doom.

Look, you gotta do what you gotta do. If you're a teacher in a college somewhere, I wouldn't advise you to leave everything and meditate out in the Himalayan mountains. That's a straw man argument.

But you know what you could do? Take a break, get a breath of fresh air, go travel somewhere you know nothing about, do SOMETHING that you'll remember after 20 years have passed.
Remember, life is short... But only for those who don't know how to lengthen it. Live the best SIXTY years of your life, or till your body gives out. Believe me, it's better than regretting at the end of the tunnel.

Take care. Until we meet again.
